Local Area (includes interactive maps)
|
The Costa Blanca is now recognised as one of the most cosmopolitan
areas in Europe. Along it's untouched coastline you will find hillsides
covered with terraced vineyards, lush-green citrus orchards and
breathtakingly pretty towns whose narrow streets lead down to flower-filled
squares.
|
 |
Known as the ‘Market Garden of Europe’, there are plenty of daily
markets to visit. Here you can find a mouth watering array of fresh
fish ( landed daily at the local port of Torrevieja), meats and
every conceivable variety of fruit and vegetables including the
world famous Valencian oranges and lemons. The acclaimed ‘Mediterranean
diet’ is recommended by doctors for healthier, balanced, nutritional
meals, giving Southern Costa Blanca the added benefit of being recommended
by the ‘World Health Organisation’ as one of the healthiest environments
to live in Europe.
|
|
The 'White Coast' offers a healthy climate of over
340 days of sunshine each year and a uniquely dry micro-climate
with remarkably low rainfall all year round. Rated to have the healthiest
climate in Europe and second in the world,it is small wonder then
that The World Health Organisation has seen fit to label the area,
'Almost as perfect an environment as it is possible to obtain'.
|
 |
All 23 sandy beaches along the Mediterranean coastline have been awarded
the Triple European Blue Flag. There are numerous Marinas, and an excellent
selection of championship Golf courses including Villamartin, Las Ramblas
and Campoamor.

This
is the place to be if you are lively vibrant and simply humming
with extrovert personality! To the west of Malaga airport the first
few miles of the coast are taken up by the busy resorts of Torremolinos,
Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Inland of here are a number of
towns and villages with property in a rural setting, such as Coín,
Alhaurín and Mijas.
The
resort of Marbella seems to have it all and is, once again, rising
to the fore as a destination of choice. Further on is Puerto Banús,
the ultimate in coastal charisma where the nightlife is electric.
Sample the alfresco bars, restaurants and discos which are open
dusk until dawn.
Further
west, the bustle starts to slip away and soon we reach Estepona,
where the traditions of the old town happily coexist alongside the
new and exciting.
Less than an hour from Malaga airport, and much less from Gibraltar
airport, is Sotogrande, with its manicured golf courses, wide tree
lined avenues, and secluded villas. Famous for prestigious championship
golf courses, including Valderrama, host course for the 1997 Ryder
Cup, two beach clubs, three Polo grounds and a superb yachting harbour.
Indeed,
the golf courses along this 50-mile stretch of coast now number
over thirty. This concentration of quality golf courses, coupled
with the unique sunny and warm winter climate of the area, has led
to its becoming a winter golf destination of choice for many. For
those wishing a more snow-filled winter break, skiing on the Sierra
Nevada to the east of Malaga is recommended.
Also
east of Malaga, a popular choice is Nerja, which lies in one of
Spain's richest farming areas and offers a variety of urban and
rural settings plus fine beaches and spectacular views.
One of the best known Spanish locations surely has to be Spain's
sun-drenched Marbella. Whether you enjoy sun-trap beaches, crystal
clear turquoise seas or the best of Spanish nightlife, cuisine and
culture, Marbella is the obvious choice for those of us who want
to be in the sun and yet still be amongst a huge English population.

Costa
Calida
To the south of the Costa Blanca and is in the province of
Murcia, 1 hour and 10 minutes south from Alicante but close
to Murcia airport. Here you enjoy the best of both worlds
the Garden of Spain and some of the finest unpolluted seas
and unspoilt beaches in Europe it bolts onto the back of the
Blanca's EEC Blue Flag Award.
As
the Costa Blanca becomes more and more developed we are aware
that there are those who seek a more peaceful and relaxing
environment whilst experiencing the wonderful beaches and
scenery that Spain has to offer. We think we have discovered
the ideal location for these people are in the Bay of Mazarron.
Mazarron
is billed as one of the healthiest places in Europe to live.
Due to it's location it has its own favourable micro-climate
- the village is surrounded by high mountains that shield
it from strong winds and it enjoys gentle sea breezes instead.
Mazarron Bay boasts over 35 Km of unspoilt coastline, made
up of small inlets, coves and sandy beaches. The waters are
wonderfully unpolluted and perfect for subaqua activities,
with clear views of Mediterranean flora and fauna such as
sea bass, moray and moonfish.
|
|
Unspoilt
by the holiday masses, this area is still in the early days
of development. It is therefore not overcome with local bars
and restaurants, though these can be found in Puerto de Mazarron
and around the golf course.
You will therefore need to have access to your own transport
to make the most of this area and to access most of the major
services.
The scenic routes across the Algarrobo range are delightful;
there are rabbits, partridge and foxes roving, and it provides
a natural habitat for kestrels and species of wild eagle.
The mountain areas are abundant with wild thyme, rosemary
and lavender, which can be found complementing many local
dishes. Mazarrón is famous for its plethora of wonderful
seafood dishes; mouthwatering local dishes include bonito
fish with noodles, peppers, garlic, sauté tomatoes
and aniseed; Mazarron sea bass oven baked with pepper, potatoes,
tomatoes and dressed with pine nuts and speciality rice with
lobster.

The
Costa Blanca is one of the main International golf resorts all year long.
Players can enjoy a fully equipped network of courses with unsurpassed
sports facilities and, what is more, an enviable climate suitable for
the sport with temperatures ranging from 60F in January to 90F in August.
These facts along with the very few rainy days per year have made it one
of Europe's main golf destinations, especially in winter.
All golf resorts have been designed by prestigious golfers like Severiano
Ballesteros or Jose Maria Olazabal. Golf can be played all over the Costa
Blanca coastline, close to great tourist and business resorts.
In all the golf courses there are schools with fully qualified intructors
to teach you how to play golf as well as all related services such as
trolleys, buggies, clubs and practice areas for hire. Also available are
supplementary services like booking points, cafeteria, baby sitting, medical
service, swimming pool, social club, sauna, games rooms, hotel and car
park.

Villamartin. Established for 25 years. This championship
golf course was the venue for the P.G.A. Mediterranean Open 1994,
an event which attracted such well known golfers as Severiano Ballesteros,
Jose Maria Olazabal, Frank Nobilo, Ernie Ells and Howard Clark.
Many other competitions also take place, both Pro-Am and amateur
and are sponsored by such household names as Mercedes, JB Whisky,
Corte Ingles, Audi, Rolex etc. This is the oldest of the three local
golf courses and is really breathtaking in its beauty. Playing over
undulating fairways to well protected greens, no two holes are alike
on this superb course.

Campoamor was opened in 1989 and although not as hazardous
as Villamartin, it is the most panoramic of the courses in the region.
The expansive fairways, excellent greens and lakes deceive the player
somewhat, making this a long and testing course with six "dog legs"
to keep you on your toes. The beautiful Club House of Campoamor
which has recently been built offers the golfer and local resident
bars and restaurant facilities with spectacular views overlooking
the lush green fairways.
